There are many decisions to be made prior to a wedding and one is the location. There are those who want to marry in an awe-inspiring location, and those who choose a place to which they are particularly connected. Those who aspire to a remote and scenic environment and those who do not want to renounce marrying in their home town (country?). It is not for the photographer to choose the location of the wedding, but in the photo shoot the location plays a very important role. Before entering into the world of ceremony locations, I would like to explain what kind of photographic services I offer. I create an artistic photo reportage service that aims to portray the true story of the ceremonies. My photographic style is natural, without fixed or forced poses: I capture what I see and what allows me to better depict the wedding day; the relationships between people, the emotions of the moment. I define myself as a wedding photojournalist, rather than a classic wedding photographer. Why did I make this foreword? Because unlike traditional photo shoots, during which the photographer, rightly, intervenes to arrange the scene, the spouses, the subjects; I try to capture the most natural moments possible. In order to make this kind of reportage, the location plays a crucial role.
Choosing the right place to get married is a very important moment in the wedding preparation. Whether it is a place you are particularly fond of, or a charming and delightful place, that will act as a frame for the couple, for their vows, the cutting of the cake and every moment of that special day. The location will also be the setting for the wedding photo reportage that I will capture. A well-lit and beautifully presented environment will give me the opportunity to narrate the story of the ceremony, making the images even more unforgettable and exciting. A fundamental point: when I talk about choosing a location I should use the plural. From my point of view, as a photographer, every room and every angle of a wedding are locations that need to be considered. Therefore, it is important to choose and prepare perfectly (in advance) the room in which the bride will prepare for the ceremony, putting on her wedding dress, preparing her hair and make-up, as I will be there to capture the moment in the most spontaneous way possible. Also, it is essential that every area of the reception room is properly set up and well-lit, as the right shot could present itself when you least expect it. In essence, I don’t tell the couple what to do during their day; I don’t change their ceremony into a Hollywood photo shoot, I don’t force anyone to be photographed if they don’t wish it. I simply express in pictures what happens, enhancing the spontaneity of the moment. To be able to shoot in the best conditions, everything must be naturally perfect. The photographer and spouses (or the wedding planner), working together to organise the layout of the locations, is the secret which allows the wedding reportage to communicate, through images, the emotions and the beauty of the day. As a wedding photojournalist, this is my goal and this is what I offer the spouses, who choose me to capture their wedding.
